About
I founded Avalon Pediatric Cardiology in 2024 in order to provide experienced and comprehensive Pediatric Cardiology care in a comfortable and convenient office setting on the Upper East Side. I have been on the faculty at New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medicine for nearly four decades. In addition to extensive clinical work I have served as Chair of the Faculty Council at Weill Cornell Medicine, President of the Pediatric Cardiology Society of Greater New York, Program Director of the Pediatric Residency Program at The New York Hospital, Interim Co-Chief of the Division of Pediatric Cardiology, Chair of the Appeals Committee at Weill Cornell, and I spent nearly a decade on the Admissions Committee at Weill Cornell, among other roles. I have been honored to participate in humanitarian Pediatric Cardiac surgical missions in Guatemala, India, China and Senegal. At Avalon Pediatric Cardiology, we have established an environment where infants, children, adolescents, young adults and expecting families can have timely, confidential care in a setting that allows ample time and resources for complete evaluation, management and understanding of any situation that might involve a cardiac issue. I have found great joy in providing a level of service at Avalon that was not always attainable in the hospital setting. I always have ample time to devote to every patient and family. For many of the consultations that I see - fainting, palpitations, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, eating disorders, abnormal fetal cardiac testing - it is not uncommon for me to be able to spend two hours or more discussing the situation and collaborating with patients and families on a detailed treatment strategy. Most patients leave with my cell phone number so that I can be reached for any problems or any questions that arise at any time. It's a stark contrast to the hospital model, and far more satisfying for all involved. I have been included in the Castle Connolly list of top physicians every year since 2008 and was named Top Pediatric Cardiologist in 2017. I have been listed among New York Magazine's Top Physicians every year since 2012. I was honored as Physician of the Year at New York Presbyterian in 2017. If your child is faced with any issue or problem that may have a cardiac origin, please do not hesitate to contact me for immediate evaluation. I believe that almost any reason to need a Pediatric Cardiologist is an urgent one, even though the great majority of patients that are referred are ultimately found to have a healthy heart. The less nights that a mother has to toss and turn with worry, the less times a young athlete has to be heldout of activity pending clearance, the better. We're here to help.
